“we are kind because we care”
Discover our vision, mission, and the experienced team dedicated to providing excellence in special educational needs.
Welcome, and thank you for visiting our school's website. With just four decades of experience in education between us – from Teaching Assistant to Managing Director – we have seen first-hand the power of education to transform lives. It is a privilege to be part of a school with such a clear mission to nurture and empower every young person.
Our “vision”, “mission” and “values” are inspired by the 'Nolan Principles'. These principles resonate with our ambition of operating from a platform of excellence to support young people in our region to achieve their undoubted potential. When making decisions we will always ensure we are adhering to our “vision”, “mission” and “values”.
We are both pleased to have appointed Amran Suleman as Headteacher – a leader with deep experience in SEND, SEMH, and ASC settings. We will both work closely alongside him, providing ongoing support to ensure the school is a safe, aspirational, and inclusive place for all.
We look forward to the journey ahead and to building strong partnerships with families, staff, and the wider community.
I am proud to welcome you to our school. With just under two decades of leadership experience across a range of roles – from Teacher to Executive Headteacher.
I feel extremely fortunate to have been asked by the Proprietors (Sam Walton and Simon Barber) to lead a school with such ambition and care at its core. Their “vision”, “mission” and “values” are truly inspiring. Their desire to support every young person is sincere and inspirational. Like me, they are deeply attached to the region.
I look forward to working closely with the Proprietors and the School Advisory Board to ensure our pupils thrive. I am also honoured to support a talented and passionate staff team, all committed to delivering the best for our young people.
Having worked extensively across SEND, SEMH and ASC schools, I am excited to build strong relationships with pupils, families, and stakeholders as we create a community where everyone can succeed.
“what we want to achieve”
We aim to empower every pupil, regardless of their ability, with an education that nurtures their potential, inspires lifelong learning, and equips them to thrive and contribute to their community.
“how we will do it”
At our school, we are committed to providing every pupil with a high-quality, personalised education, that fosters their growth and success. By drawing on the latest research and best practices, we create an environment of care and support where every pupil, regardless of ability, can build confidence, overcome challenges, and develop a passion for learning.
Our values are founded on the seven principles of public life, which guide every decision we make:
Act in pupils' best interests
Maintain honesty and strong ethics
Make fair, unbiased decisions
Own actions and accept scrutiny
Communicate clearly and transparently
Be truthful and trustworthy
Model and promote high standards
“culture eats strategy for breakfast” - “in the pursuit of perfection, we will achieve excellence”
This philosophy drives everything we do at The Apex Academy. We believe that by creating the right culture of care, kindness, and high expectations, we create an environment where every young person can flourish and achieve their potential.
